Erie United For Ukraine Campaign Launched

Erie United For UkraineToday, the two new leaders of The Erie Community Foundation and United Way of Erie County announced the #ErieUnitedForUkraine campaign. This campaign supports the international effort by United Way Worldwide, a multinational effort to direct much-needed donations to United Way organizations in the countries welcoming Ukrainians fleeing the horrors of war.

The announcement was made from the Logistics Plus ETN warehouse, which has already been collecting items to ship to Lublin, Poland (Erie’s sister city), where it will go to support Ukrainian refugees. Logistics Plus COO Yuriy Ostapyak spoke to the media to thank everyone for the outpouring of support from the Erie community.

United Way and The Erie Community Foundation are encouraging donors and the community to donate through the local campaign portal #ErieUnitedForUkraine. Monetary donations will be directed to the organizations with expertise in humanitarian relief efforts: United Way Romania, United Way Hungary and Fundacja Dobrych Inicjatyw (Good Initiatives Foundation) in Poland.

Logistics Plus Receives RIO Plastic Neutrality Certification for a Second Straight Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Logistics Plus Receives RIO Plastic Neutrality Certification for a Second Year

20 tons of plastic collected in 2021 is credited to Logistics Plus and will be used to build homes in Indonesia.

Logistics Plus Receives RIO Plastic Neutrality Certification for a Second YearERIE, PA (March 10, 2022) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, is proud to announce that it has received the official Restoring Integrity To The Oceans (RIO) Plastic Neutrality Certification for 2021 – a second straight year. In 2020, Logistics Plus reduced its plastics footprint by supporting RIO’s collection of 19 tons of marine plastic and waste. Last year, it supported the collection of another 20 tons of plastic waste.

The RIO Plastic Neutral Program allows companies the opportunity to establish their plastic footprint and reduce it by joining RIO to collect marine plastic and waste. Logistics Plus formally partnered with RIO in February 2020 to support its ongoing ocean cleanup initiatives, including the purchase of 1,200 recycled pallets from RIO made from 13,200 pounds of plastic waste in March 2021.

“Through our partnership with RIO, Logistics Plus continues to lead by example by maintaining its plastic neutrality certification,” said Yuriy Ostapyak, COO for Logistics Plus. “Logistics Plus has had operations in Indonesia for over 20 years, so knowing that the plastic waste collected on our behalf is going to build new homes in that region is extremely gratifying.”

Basar Kandil named Deputy General Manager of LP Turkey

Basar Kandil named Deputy General Manager of LP Turkey

Basar Kindil(As Announced Earlier This Month)

It is my pleasure to report that Bahadir Erdil, Managing Director of LP Turkey and LP Global Projects Director, has named Basar Kandil as Deputy General Manager of LP Turkey.

This is greatly deserved as Basar is one of the best Project Logistics experts in the region.  He is known and respected by all the folks who came up with him, many of who are now leaders in several of the big companies. And he knows all modes of transportation, not just “the hard stuff.” (And as Bahadir says, he knows EVERY DETAIL ?)

Basar is also a great husband and Dad (and is the opposite of Bahadir—very cool, calm, and collected. Ying and Yang. And wonderful friends.  LP through and through. We are lucky to have him.

Please join me in congratulating Basar.  Very proud and happy.

Onward!

Today is the third annual National Logistics Day!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today is the third annual National Logistics Day!

June 28 is the day to recognize and appreciate the importance of the Logistics Industry.

National Logistics Day TIA LogoERIE, PA (June 28, 2021) – Logistics Plus Inc. (LP), a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, invites you to join the entire logistics industry in celebrating the third annual National Logistics Day to recognize and appreciate the importance that logistics plays in our national and global economies.

It is estimated that the transportation and warehousing segment in the U.S. alone accounts for over 5.5 million jobs and that all logistics activities account for nearly 8% of everything we make and sell. The third-party logistics segment alone represents a $200 billion industry and employs more than 126,000 men and women with a payroll exceeding $7.5 billion annually.

The first National Logistics Day was established on June 28, 2019, by Logistics Plus and registered with the National Day Calendar. Numerous city, county, and state institutions have officially endorsed it, and the U.S. House of Representatives issued a formal Congressional Record honoring June 28 as a National Logistics Day. Since last year, the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) – the definitive voice for the logistics industry – has been actively advancing National Logistics Day throughout the industry.

“We are extremely proud of our 25-year history in this industry and our TIA membership this past decade,” said Scott Frederick, Vice President, Marketing & LTL Carrier Relations for Logistics Plus. “Along with our 3PL industry peers, it’s rewarding to see the many awesome jobs we create for our employees and the interesting supply chain challenges we solve for our customers. Logistics is important and deserving of its own day of celebration.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic put our industry and our members in the spotlight,” said Anne Reinke, TIA President & CEO. “TIA Members have worked tirelessly juggling and addressing the huge demand on household goods and filling gaps in both shipper and carrier capacity wherever they could. Now that the logistics industry is better known, it is incumbent upon all of us, but most especially TIA, to make it better understood by raising our members’ profiles, herald their great works, and educate the public about all that the logistics industry does – and National Logistics Day is the perfect forum to do so.”

Logistics Plus originally began bringing new life to the area when it acquired and renovated Erie’s dilapidated historic Union Station back in 2003 and made it its global headquarters for the years to come. Today, over 100 Logistics Plus employees work at Union Station, and it is the home to multiple other businesses, including Erie’s first micro-brewery.
